Brio Birth is organized as an LLC in the state of Colorado, with the goal of later opening offices in major cities around the country. We will also be opening offices and creating organizations in other countries around the world to support our efforts internationally. The following is our current organizational chart. We still have a couple of key positions to fill, and our organization may evolve slightly over time, as it is very new.

Brio Birth Leadership and Supporting Members 

Stephen Portlock - VP Finance 

Stephen has over twenty years experience in executive level financial positions. He has worked in public accounting and has been a Business Manager, Corporate Controller, VP Finance, Finance Director, and CFO for both small and start-up companies. Stephen is experienced in executive leadership, all accounting tasks and reporting in accordance to GAAP, financial analysis, cash flow control, budgeting, forecasting, strategic planning, cost accounting, asset protection, and taxes (sales, personal property, payroll and income). During his career, he has raised millions of dollars in capital and long-term financing, increased profits from 3% to 16% in two years, increased revenues from $3M to $38M in three years, developed effective business plans, reengineered companies for growth, and implemented several accounting software conversions. He has developed and led accounting departments; implementing sound accounting policies and procedures, improving work flows to reduce costs, as well as led executive teams in strategic planning. Stephen is a Certified Management Accountant (CMA) and has been an instructor for the Institute of Management Accountants in partnership with Regis Adult Learning Center in assisting accountants prepare for the CMA exam. He is also an Enrolled Agent with the IRS. Stephen received his BBA in Financial Accounting with a 4.0 GPA and Valedictorian of his class and completed his MBA from Regis University, graduating Summa Cum Laude. 

Kyle Thomas - VP Business Development & Marketing

Whether picking garlic on Grandpa's farm or swinging a hammer on Dad's job site, Kyle learned the value of hard work at a very young age. At 16 he started as a part time shoe salesman for a department store chain, and by 18 he was consulting regional management on marketing strategy. By 21 he was being contracted as a marketing consultant for major corporations such as American Express, AT&T, JP Morgan, and Deluxe Business Services (DBS). Kyle started his first company part time at 23 and at 24 he started another company full time, a BPO firm in the Philippine islands, it was here that he was first exposed to the concept of birth outside the hospital with most of his employees giving birth at home attended by a midwife. He recently merged his BPO firm with a much larger firm located here in the USA and he has decided to dedicate his time completely to Brio Birth. He has a wonderful wife Naomi (Denver Doula) and two amazing boys, Levi and Zade.

Naomi Thomas - VP Doula Relations and VP Social Networking 

Naomi is a wife, mother and a self-proclaimed "birth junkie." She became interested in birth while pregnant with her first child, Levi. After her amazing birth experience she could not keep from sharing her passion with anyone and everyone and was quickly told she should become an instructor herself. Since then she has taught over 150 couples through classes and seminars, attended over 50 births and has even served as a co-Leader with ICAN. In addition to her training in childbirth education, Naomi became certified as a doula through DONA and trained (not certified) as a Lactation Educator with CAPPA. She is well-known throughout the birth community due to her presence on Facebook as Denver Doula. Naomi is continually researching and studying birth to stay up-to-date so she can inform mothers on scientifically sound information. She could not possibly be more excited for the direction that Brio Birth is taking now and the incredible and limitless potential it holds. 

Adele Gregersen - VP Customer Service 

Adele Gregersen has 25 years of sales experience. She has a degree in Business from BYU Idaho. Adele earned All Star Club Member status in direct mail advertising in 2007 and was salesman of the year in 2004 for The Press Enterprise Newspaper in Southern California. She has training in Marketing, Public Relations, advertising and both print and radio journalism. She is the mother of eight children and five grandchildren. 

Sarah Bergquist - Finance

 Sarah Bergquist is blessed to be a stay at home mom and wife in the Denver, Colorado area. She has a background in finance, real estate and a Master of Science degree in Accounting from the University of Colorado at Boulder. Upon becoming pregnant mid 2009, she has embarked on a path of learning and growth that landed her firmly as a natural birth advocate. 

DyAnna Gordon - Midwife Relations

DyAnna Gordon has worked with women and families as a trained childbirth educator and doula since 2002. She has a Bachelors of Science degree in Psychology with an emphasis on women's studies. DyAnna is an active proponent for the healing and prevention of birth trauma and works with many families in that respect. She is a traditional midwife in Southern Utah and is a wife and the proud mother of four wonderful children all born with different midwives. DyAnna values what midwives, good childbirth education and doulas bring to the birth process: trust, wisdom, support, encouragement and empowerment. A peaceful birth is an amazing tribute to the human body and the perfect start for an eternal family. Her years as certified doula through DONA (2003-2008), Childbirth instructor (2005-2008), CAPPA certified childbirth educator (2005-2007), and midwife have helped her to learn to trust in the power of women and birth. This trust grows even more with every experience that she is blessed to play a part in. She is excited to help in any way she can with this positive movement toward promoting amazing birth experiences.
